Breaking Rocks at Ningbo Museum
Breaking Rocks meets China at the famous Ningbo Museum, also known as Yinzhou Museum. The Museum opened in December 2008 and has 3 permanent exhibitions.
First permanent exhibition is about the Ningbo history. Ningbo is one of China oldest cities dating back to 4800 BC.
The second permanent exhibition is about Ningbo custom and the third is about bamboo art.
The Ningbo museum was designed by Wang Shu who won Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2012 for this building. He integrated old tiles and bamboo in the building. Continue reading for more information about Ningbo.
Ningbo is located in Zhejiang Province, China. To the north we find Shanghai and to the west Hangzhou. Ningbo has a deep sea port and is the second biggest port in the world based on volume after Shanghai.
The city is certainly worth a visit when travelling in China. Most popular sightseeing places are Tianyi Pavilion, the oldest surviving library in China and Baoguo Temple, the oldest intact wooden structure in Eastern China.
