Not to miss in Berlin – Van Liebling
The streets of Berlin’s Friedrichshain have their own unique identity. Positioned on the east side of the Berlin wall, the area was historically a hub of protest and social uprising during the 1980s, which is why it makes sense for Van Liebling to have set up shop in this fascinating area in 2007. Combining urban fashion and contemporary music, the shop has its very own DIY record label comprising of seven artists who make mostly electronic, deep house, and dance music such as D.Y.A, Herbie, and Kurtis Van Liebling. Collaborating with some of Berlin’s most underground music venues, Van Liebling’s owner Christian Kuert often organizes album release parties that – along with the shop – tend to attract music producers, skaters, vinyl diggers, serious fashion collectors and lawyers. As well as having its own collection that is designed and produced in-house throughout the year, Van Liebling stocks men and women’s clothing by OH DAWN, Looky looky, Creation, Bleed, Libertine Libertine, The Decades, Fake and Topdollar. There are plaid shirts, wool jackets and hats a plenty here, not to mention the odd print by Berlin-based artists such as Chrisse Kunst. Van Liebling isn’t just a shop – it’s a lifestyle. And do not worry; you can find our crazy comfort wear here!
